Why It Matters Who You Order From
Not all turf is the same. The difference between a top-rated supplier and a poor one shows up when your turf arrives — yellowed rolls that were cut a week ago and sat in a warehouse, inconsistent thickness that makes laying difficult, or missed delivery slots that leave you with prepared ground drying out in the sun.
This guide cuts through the noise. We've compared the UK's main turf delivery suppliers on the factors that actually matter: product quality, freshness, delivery reliability, customer feedback, and value.
Our Top Pick: Quality Garden Supplies
Quality Garden Supplies stands out as our top recommendation for turf delivery in the UK. Based in Staffordshire, they supply premium lawn turf to domestic and trade customers nationwide.
What sets them apart:

The 13,500+ Trustpilot reviews aren't just a big number — the consistency of positive feedback on delivery speed and turf freshness is what matters. Read our full Quality Garden Supplies review.
Other Suppliers Worth Considering
Rolawn
One of the UK's largest turf growers, Rolawn supply cultivated turf from their own farms direct to domestic customers. Their Feefo Platinum Trusted Service Award (from 7,000+ reviews) reflects consistently good quality and reliable delivery. Pricing is at the premium end, but the product quality is consistent. Available both for direct delivery and through garden centres if you prefer to check quality in person.
Online Turf
Online Turf is a Lancashire family farm that has been growing grass since 1933. Their key selling point is freshness — turf is cut to order for delivery, reducing the time between cutting and laying. 4.5/5 on Trustpilot from 2,000+ reviews.
Harrowden Turf
Northamptonshire-based growers supplying domestic and trade customers across most of England. Harrowden cut fresh from their own farms and offer a range of grades from domestic to sports turf. Strong coverage in the Midlands and South. Read the Harrowden Turf review.
Turfonline
A well-established UK online retailer with a clear range of turf varieties and instant online pricing. Good option if you want to compare grades and price without having to call for a quote. Nationwide delivery with next-day options. See the full Turfonline review.
Charlton & Jenrick
Yorkshire-based growers with strong coverage across the North and Midlands. If you're in Yorkshire, Lancashire, or the North Midlands, buying from a regional grower often means better delivery logistics and fresher turf. Read the Charlton & Jenrick review.
How to Compare Suppliers Before You Order
Check the Total Cost, Not Just the Per-m² Price
The advertised turf price is only part of the cost. Always calculate:
- Turf cost × m² needed
- Delivery charge for your postcode and order size
- Whether VAT is included
On a small order (say, 20m²), a £50 delivery charge adds £2.50/m² to the headline price. On a 100m² order, the same delivery charge adds just £0.50/m². Always check delivery costs before committing.
Ask About Lead Times
Most UK suppliers quote next-day or 2-day delivery, but this varies significantly by postcode and time of year. During spring (April–May) and late summer (August–September), demand spikes and delivery slots book up quickly — sometimes 5–7 days ahead. Order early during peak season.
Verify Coverage for Your Postcode
"Nationwide delivery" on a UK supplier website usually means most of England and parts of Wales. Scottish delivery is less reliable, and Northern Ireland is often not covered. Always enter your postcode on the supplier's site to confirm coverage before placing an order.
Check the Turf Variety Specification
Not all standard turf is the same. Some suppliers use a higher percentage of fine fescue in their "standard" blend, which gives a better appearance but less wear tolerance. If you have children or dogs, look for a blend with a high perennial ryegrass percentage. If appearance is the priority and the area gets light use, fine fescue blends are worth the premium.
What Our Reviews Cover
Every supplier review on grass.delivery evaluates five areas:
- Product quality — turf variety range, freshness on delivery, consistency of rolls
- Delivery reliability — coverage, lead times, missed slot rates based on customer feedback
- Customer service — responsiveness, how problems are handled
- Value — per-m² pricing versus quality delivered
- Verified reviews — ratings from Trustpilot, Feefo, and other independent platforms
We don't accept payment for placement or reviews. Quality Garden Supplies is listed as our top pick because it has the highest verified Trustpilot rating of the suppliers we've reviewed (4.8/5 as of April 2026), not because of any commercial arrangement. See our disclaimer for full details on how we rank suppliers.
